Musc Indanone (Cashmeran® equivalent)
A pure synthetic molecule with a warm, soft and enveloping character, combining musky, spicy and woody notes enriched by amber and velvety nuances, with a subtle floral-fruity undertone.
A warm and enveloping olfactory profile
Musc Indanone is a pure synthetic molecule whose name evokes a warm, soft and enveloping sensation. Its profile combines musky, spicy and woody notes with amber and velvety nuances, accompanied by a subtle floral and fruity undertone.
Although the molecule does not contain an aromatic ring, it is often classified within the family of polycyclic musks. The correct chemical group is that of cyclohexenones.
The molecule was first synthesised in 1969 by IFF.
Versatile in fragrance creation
Musc Indanone pairs particularly well with precious woods such as cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli, as well as white musks and amber notes. It can also act as an effective structural bridge with opulent florals such as jasmine and rose, helping to enhance the sensuality and lasting character of the composition on the skin.
Although primarily considered a base note, Musc Indanone is already perceptible during the early stages of a fragrance without evaporating rapidly. On a fragrance blotter, it can remain detectable for weeks, a characteristic that supports its use as an effective fixative.
It also blends effectively with synthetic ingredients such as Iso E Super, Hedione and white musks, while enhancing natural materials such as sandalwood and patchouli.
